Recreation soccer divisions U9 and above play through the SYSL Inter-County League. Teams are flighted according to their age group and competitive strength, in single-gender divisions. Seasons (Fall and Spring) consist in a 7 to 8-week period with half of the games played HOME in Roselle Park, and AWAY in surrounding towns in the league. Additional games for playoffs, consolation and championship are added at the end of the season.
Volunteer coaches and assistants must meet requirements (a background check and concussion course) before being entrusted with a team. Teams practice up to twice a week, based on the volunteers' availabilities, and games are played on the weekend.
As you register your child, you will need to select uniform size for jersey, shorts and socks. A previously purchased uniform can be worn for multiple seasons. Separate pieces may also be purchased to fit the needs of your growing player. Registration fees help alleviate the cost of field maintenance, referees, equipment, lights, coach courses, etc.
Players must wear the proper equipment to practices and games. Shin guards and cleats as well as sports glasses are mandatory.
